Privacy policy

Mustaqim collects nothing. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking. The app makes no internet connections: everything it does happens on your iPhone, and nothing you do in it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Your location
Prayer times and the Qibla direction depend on where you are. You choose how the app knows that:
- Use my location. If you allow it, the app asks iOS for your position while you're using it, to work out prayer times and the Qibla. It never asks for your location in the background. Your position is used on the phone only and is never sent anywhere. The app saves your most recent position on the phone so times are ready the next time you open it.
- Choose a city. You can pick your city from a list built into the app instead. Searching the list happens on the phone; nothing you type leaves it.
You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Compass and motion
The Qibla screen reads the compass and the phone's tilt while it's open, to point you towards the Kaaba and to check the phone is held flat. These readings are used as they come in and are not saved. On iPhone, iOS only gives apps the compass heading with location access, so the Qibla screen asks for it; that access is used for the compass on the phone and nothing else.
Notifications
Prayer notifications are scheduled by the app on your phone, using iOS's local notifications. There is no notification server, and no device token or other identifier is created or sent anywhere.
What's stored on your phone
The app stores your settings (calculation method, Asr school, adjustments, notification choices, appearance) and your chosen city or last position, in the app's own storage on the phone. We can't see any of it. Deleting the app deletes it. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, this data is included in that backup like other apps' data, under Apple's terms.
Apple
Apple handles downloads and updates through the App Store. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us anonymous, combined statistics such as crash counts. That's Apple's service, covered by Apple's privacy policy; the app itself adds nothing to it.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of the app ever needed to send any data, it would be explained here and in the app before it happened.
